Description
These Persian meels are have a more ‘rustic’ finish and therefore offered at a sale price. They have been hand-turned from one solid piece of walnut and finished with matt varnish to both protect the wood and enhance appearance.
Due to the nature of wood, there will be natural variations of both weight and colour. We make most of our clubs in batches and match pairs according to proximity of weight. Variations above/below the target weight will happen though we aim to match pairs as close as possible. That said, most weights are a little over the stated weight.
These clubs are sourced from solid walnut logs which air-dried by the sun. Air-dried walnut timber is considered more environmentally friendly than kiln-dried as they are dried naturally. They are therefore cheaper, though carry a slight risk of small cracks appearing, depending on the ambient conditions they are stored in. Small cracks are usually are considered cosmetic and can be easily fixed using wood glue, sometimes mixed with sawdust. Should your clubs display excessive splitting, then please let us know if this happens and we can work out a solution. Follow this link for inforation on care and maintenance.
We also supply sapele kiln-dried meels which are slightly longer than our air-dried walnut sets due to the lower density of the wood. While kiln-dried wood is more expensive, it is the more stable of timbers. All wood may require frequent or infrequent attention during it’s use. Well looked after clubs should last a lifetime, and more.
