Persian meels (mils) lovingly hand-turned from one solid chunk of sustainable walnut, weighing from 4.5-6kg each club – finished with oil to both protect the wood and enhance appearance.
Due to the nature of wood, there maybe a natural variation of weight and colour. We make most of our clubs in batches and match pairs according to proximity of weight. Variations above/below the target weight will happen though we aim to match pairs as close as possible. Most weights are a little over the stated weight. Please let us know during check-out if you prefer a slightly heavier or lighter meel.
These clubs are sourced from solid walnut logs, air-dried by the sun. Air-dried walnut timber is considered greener than kiln-dried as they are dried naturally. They are therefore cheaper, though carry a risk of small cracks appearing, depending on the ambient conditions they are stored in. Small cracks are usually are considered cosmetic and can be easily fixed using wood glue. Should your clubs display excessive splitting, then please let us know if this happens and we can work out a solution. Follow this link for inforation on care and maintenance.
We also supply sapele kiln-dried meels which are slightly longer than our air-dried walnut sets due to different wood densities. They are the more stable of timbers though cost more too.
